The Heavy Metal, seen and listened very closely, is full of so many excesses and wild paraphernalia as glam, satánica or a guerrera. Making a list of how this band started as a way of Metal sources, of most controversial issues related to the devil, satanism and human sacrifice, they probably start in “Sympathy for the Devil” by the Rolling Stones despite not being a Heavy Metal song itself. But of course, there are many other rhythms included as the long list of blues songs that make allusions to the devil, religion, and the struggle for survival of the soul are present.
Black Sabbath started with the paraphernalia of the occult on a larger scale in metal. The Germans of the Necronomicon band, continued this, influenced by Lovecraft. Thus, Metal gradually became a style where the stories of epic journeys into darkness, wars with heavenly or hellish creatures, conquests unexplored cosmic travel and other worlds would be represented. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest would use these paraphernalia narratives. Later, New Yorkers Manowar brought heavy riffs that would lead to the highest points of Valhalla. Progressive metal bands explored further in these areas or lyric possibilities. In the case of Norwegian Black Metal, Norse myths mixed with rock in a spirit returning to ancient pagan traditions of this people and the rejection the Christian order.
Tierra Santa is a band from La Rioja, which started its path through the metal in the 90´s. They returned to the stage since 2010, with them all the above mentioned at the epic, legendary or mythical style, you name it. If you´re a fan of heavy metal, perhaps the Holy Land is a good excuse to rock a bit on the night of the 10th of March at Razzmatazz. There are no words to describe the sound of Tierra Santa. For this band, any adjective could be an appropriate insult, for a sound made with such bad taste, and hampered by the lack of talent of its performers.
It is sad to know that at a time like this, in 2012, still exist as antiquated ways of doing Heavy Metal, where Metal borders have exceeded the lead and the noisiness, and while the mythical tales, legendary visions, Satan, God, and all the clothing of the darkest Metal still count as advice to these musicians would have to think more about their music now and rethink their Metal.
