Uffizi Gallery

The Uffizi Gallery is a world famous museum because they exhibit the most important masterpieces of various Italian and worldwide artists. The style that predominates in the museum is Renaissance but there´s also primitive paintings.

Some of the artists that predominate in the Galleria Uffizi are: Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rafael Sanzio, Sandro Botticelli and Rembrandt to name a few.

The building occupied by the museum was previously a government building that was taken by the State offices, and from there it receives its name from the Italian “uffici”, which means offices. Today, the Galleria Uffizi, is on the last floor of the building.

The Duke Francesco I was the creator of this art gallery that was subsequently completed by many other families, like the Medici, who were great collectors of frescos and sculptures.

In the 16th century, the gallery had workshops to cut and process precious stones, porcelain and creative sculpturing. And only at the end of that century did the museum open its doors to the public.

Today it´s the Italian State who is in charge of the collection. If you want to visit the Galleria Uffizi, rent apartments in Florence and discover the wonders of the city.
