The Pergamonmuseum is, together with the Neues Museum, the most relevant in the whole of Berlin and this building, which was inaugurated in 1930, also finds itself of Museum Island where all the important museums are in the German city. The Gemäldegalerie, Picture Gallery in English, is a museum in Berlin that has one of the most important European art collections from the period that ranges from the 13th until the 18th century and, for that reason, millions of tourists visit its galleries every year. The place possesses works of art of very famous artists that were the most important ones of their time such as Tiziano, Rafael Sanzio, Lucas Cranach, Albert Dürer, Caravaggio, Rembrandt or Rubens among many others. The museum was inaugurated in 1830 and, subsequently, was reconstructed in 1998. The gallery tries to give the biggest importance possible to all the works that it presents and, for that reason, it exhibits few works in each room differentiated by period or style. The most important ones are, undoubtedly, where they exhibit the works of Rembrandt and the Madonnas of Rafael. The Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery) has one of the most important and imposing neoclassic constructions in the whole of Berlin. The building in question was inaugurated in 1876 and it houses a large art gallery of the most important artists of the whole of the 19th century. The place is distributed in two floors. On the first floor the visitors will be able to enjoy some of the paintings and sculptures from the leading artists of realism in the 19th century, and of other famous artists like Adolph Menzel. That place is known as Kudamm (originally called Kurfürstendamm & Tauentzienstraße in German) and it´s the most popular street to go shopping in the German city. The street is a long boulevard with no less than 3.5 kilometres that go from Breitscheidplatz square, one of the biggest in Berlin, to Rathenauplatz, another important square. In those 3.5 kilometres there are a large amount of boutiques and shops that go from the leading fashion brands from around the world, to other independent designer shops that present their collections each season.
