The Bode Museum, which used to be known as the Kaiser Friedrich Museum, opened its doors in 1904 and, at first instant, housed some very important pictorial collections from the Christian era although, as the years went by, this was changed and it acquired all types of collections. The Bode Museum is on Museum Island in Berlin where you can also find other important museums and cultural spots in the city. The first renovations after the war (1948) were only done in parts, because some parts were not accessible and the step by step renovation stretched along until 1987. After the unification many flaws were noticed and it was decided to be renovated once more. It wasn’t until 2006 until it opened again in its full glory and since then it turned into one of the most important museums in Berlin. At the place one can enjoy the Sculpture Collection, the Numismaatic Cabinet and the Bizantine Collection. One of the reasons as to why the Bode is visited so much is because it has one of the world´s biggest collections of sculptures and, on the other hand, numismatic objects (over half a million). Without doubt, the Bode Museum is one of the most visited in the German city and visiting it is a must. You can rent apartments in...

The Plaza de Cibeles is one of the most visited in Spain because it has the Fountain of Cibeles which is one of the icons of Madrid. The square is situated in the heart of the city and the fountain presents Cybele, the Greek goddess of fertility that holds a scepter and a key while she´s impulsed by two lions. The fountain was designed by Ventura Rodríguez in 1782 and it was originally in the main door of the Prado Museum in front of the Fountain of Neptuno. One of the most striking things that it has is that, the football club Real Madrid, one of the favourites of the city, adopted the fountain and it´s used by the fans as a meeting point and many times you can see players thanking her when the team win a trophy. In the four corners of the square there are interesting and very beautiful places both for tourists and locals. In one there´s the Palacio de Buenavista, built in 1777; on the other the Palacio de Linares which was built in 1877; on the other the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Banco de España, the Spanish Bank. Without doubt, the Plaza de Cibeles is a place that you has to be visited by all tourists who arrive at the city. Get Madrid accommodation and don´t let this opportunity...

The control point Charlie (Checkpoint Charlie) was one of the many control positions distributed along the Berlin Wall. It was used to control the border passing between the East and West of Berlin during the Cold War. The historical importance of this control point is that it used to be the passage to freedom for many East Germans. Today it´s a tourist attraction but it was the scenario of death and war from 1961, when the main conflicts began among the two regimes. Checkpoint Charlie obtains its name from the NATO alphabet, where Alpha means the first control point, Bravo the second and Charlie the third. Located where it used to be, at the union of the districts of Mitte and Kreuzberg, it´s currently a replica of the Checkpoint because the original one was totally destroyed when the wall came down in Berlin and Germany unified. In 2000 they inaugurated the replica that serves as a tourist attraction today. You can also visit the Checkpoint Charlie Museum which is on Friedrichstraße, very close to the control point, where you´ll discover highly valuable historical material. If you want to get to know this key point in universal history, rent apartments in Berlin and go out and see the...

Berlin, as well as having some of Europe´s most important museums, also holds some of the best night clubs in the continent. Tresor, which means “security” in its original language, is one of the most legendary that the city has where, every weekend, thousands and thousands of people go there to enjoy it with their partner or friends. Why is it so legendary? Because it used to be the first techno club in the early 90s in Berlin, which introduced electronic music and, today, has one of the biggest crowds of this musical genre. After closing in 2004, Tresor celebrated its resurrection in 2008 but it changed its location and today it´s in an old restored energy plant which gives it not only a different aspect but also an underground one, which many don´t have. From that moment on, the club presents the most important DJs in the world of electronic music and it´s a place that every fan of electronic music has to attend. Also, the parties last all night until sunrise (and sometimes until the middle of the day the next day). You can rent apartments in Berlin and enjoy Tresor, a real jewel of the electronic music...
