Charles Bridge in Prague is a tourist attraction in itself. The bridge is incredibly beautiful but it also has plenty of history behind it that the tourists love to hear while walking over it. This bridge is the oldest in the city of Prague and the second oldest in the Czech Republic. It began to be built in the mid-14th century under the ruling of King Charles IV. It was finished in the 15th century and, since then, it´s the only way to cross the river so it quickly became busy because it was an excellent communication way between the Old Town, Prague Castle and in general between Eastern and Western Europe. The commerce expanded a lot thanks to this bridge which was the only one until 1841. Charles Bridge is a true work of art and the tourists adore walking over it. It´s 516 metres long and nearly 10 metres wide. It has 16 arches and it´s guarded by three beautiful towers, two on one end, in Malá Strana and the other one in the Old Town. This last one is one of the most beautiful gothic constructions in architectural world history. If you rented apartments in Prague and you´re in the city, don´t miss out on walking over this bridge which, during the day, seems to have life of its...

The Torre de la Plata is one of the most relevant monuments of the city of Sevilla and the place is visited by thousands of tourists every year to get to know its history, construction and art. The Tower is an octogonal-shaped building that was built in the 13th century which is located in Santander street and it united, thanks to the wall that was there at the time when the Romans were in the city (of which there are still remains of it), with the Torre del Oro. The place was used until not long ago as a place where the homeless and people without a home rested, ate and cleaned themselves up and due to the vegetation that there is in the place where it was built, the construction deteriorated notably little by little with the passing of time. Today the tower possesses a patio which has, as well, a stationing that used to be a blacksmith´s in the 17th century. The Torre de la Plata, despite being semi-abandoned, is still in its best moment and it can maintain the importance that it was given in the past, in Roman times. If you want to see a construction with plenty of history, get Seville accommodation and give it a...

The walls of Sevilla are one of the most important monuments in the city and, as their name indicates, they were military objects that surrounded the old part of town in the Roman period to protect them from possible invaders. These were up until the 19th century when, part of them, were knocked down after the revolution of 1868, although up until today some are still preserved in the Macarena district and part of the ones that were in the Reales Alcázares de Sevilla. The extense and large walls had 18 different access gates only 4 of which still stand: the Macarena, postigo de Aceite, Alcázar and Puerta de Córdoba. The construction was ordered by Julius Caesar between the years 68 and 65 BC and they were perfected during the time that his son, Caesar Augustus, took the city forward. Today the walls are one of the most visited monuments in the city and they present an old construction that managed to stay on its feet like it used to in Roman times. You can get Seville accommodation and enjoy the views of these great...

The church of Santa María del Mar is a Gothic style church. Inside you can see highlighted all the elements of this movement, such as the tall, spiraled columns and the great hidden arches, or the disuse of different surfaces to leave them “blank”. This style (especially for its columns and its height) was what inspired Gaudí in his works: buildings that became popular worldwide for their strangeness first and for their creativity second. The church was founded to commemorate the Catalan conquest of Sardinia and because the people of the area, Barri de la Rivera, grew at a very fast rhythm and there wasn´t any more space for them in the district´s parish. That´s why they chose the name “Santa María del Mar”, to represent the naval triumph over the terrestrial one. It has three façades and one very different to the other. The main one, for example, is decorated with giant sculptures of St Peter and St Paul. On the other hand, the workers that contributed to the construction of the church of Santa María del Mar are also represented on its doors, so that they nor the work that they did can ever be forgotten. The interior decoration of the great church can´t be appreciated fully today because, in 1936, it caught fire for political and religious reasons. But that´s not an inconvenient to visit it, the opposite, because it enhances the simplicity of the Catalan Gothic style and it allows one to submerge himself in art and architecture. That´s why, if you want to see the church of Santa...

The Casa de Pilatos is situated next to the Plaza de Pilatos in Sevilla and it´s a construction that dates from the 16th century and it´s a mix of Italian Renaissance with the Spanish Mudéjar. This was constructed as a prototype of the Palacio de Andalucía. The Marqués of Tarifa, one of the many owners that the place had, came back from a trip to Jerusalem and did important reforms to it. From that moment it was called Casa de Pilatos and is currently the houses of the Dukes of Medinaceli. You can go into the house through a big marble door that was created by the Italian artist Antonio de Aprile in 1529. When you go through the great door you find the Main Patio which is decorated with various sculptures of Roman emperors and Greek mythology. Also, this patio has two wonderful gardens that can be enjoyed especially in summer, full of flowers and green. The place is in between the districts of Santa Cruz and Macarena and it´s very easy to get to, both by public transport and by car. Get Seville accommodation and enjoy one of its most beautiful...
