Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge in Prague is a tourist attraction in itself. The bridge is incredibly beautiful but it also has plenty of history behind it that the tourists love to hear while walking over it.

This bridge is the oldest in the city of Prague and the second oldest in the Czech Republic. It began to be built in the mid-14th century under the ruling of King Charles IV. It was finished in the 15th century and, since then, it´s the only way to cross the river so it quickly became busy because it was an excellent communication way between the Old Town, Prague Castle and in general between Eastern and Western Europe.

The commerce expanded a lot thanks to this bridge which was the only one until 1841. Charles Bridge is a true work of art and the tourists adore walking over it. It´s 516 metres long and nearly 10 metres wide. It has 16 arches and it´s guarded by three beautiful towers, two on one end, in Malá Strana and the other one in the Old Town. This last one is one of the most beautiful gothic constructions in architectural world history.

If you rented apartments in Prague and you´re in the city, don´t miss out on walking over this bridge which, during the day, seems to have life of its own.
