In the Vatican Museums you can observe a large quantity of sculptures, paintings and other objects that were picked up throughout the centuries by every Catholic Pope. These are made up by artistic monuments like the Sistine Chapel, the Rooms and the Chapel of Beato Angelico among many others. Also, the picture gallery occupies a whole building that was built in 1932 and which was a work by the renown architect Beltrami. Inside you can enjoy archeological objects that are hundreds of years old and that are unique in the world. One of these examples that can be observed, which is located in the Lateran Palace, are the different trophies of the Pontifical Military Body. Something to take into account is that these museums open, excepting special occasions, only in the morning until the early hours of the afternoon on weekdays and for that reason they´ll always be full of tourists that go to see them and, on the last Sunday of each month, the visit is free. The amount of works that can be enjoyed in these buildings are undoubtedly unique and incomparable. The National 21st Century Art Museum, better known as MAXXI, is one of the most interesting contemporary art museums in the city of Rome. The most interesting thing about MAXXI is its very peculiar design that was devised by Zaha Hadid, who won the worldwide competition that took place to see who was going to do it. When its visitors go inside they feel that they are in a work of art which is completely surreal because there are ramps, strange angles, oblique windows or completely hidden corners. Despite the museum being really young, it presents some art collections that are by truly respectable artists like Francesco Clemente, William Kentridge or Gerhard Richter. In the centre of the city of Lisbon we find a famous square in the whole of Portugal and the world: Rossio Square. The real name is Plaza Don Pedro IV but everyone calls it “Rossio”. Because of its location, it´s an area with a lot of commercial and tourist activity. Thousands of Lisbonites and tourist go there every day to share the charms of the city. The square is surrounded by the best and most famous fashion stores, jewelers, bars, cafeterias and restaurants. But Rossio Square in itself also constitutes a tourist attraction because it has different monuments that you should see. There is that statue of Pedro IV, the reason why it receives its real name. He was King Soldado and for that he´s remembered by all the people. On the base of the monument there are four femenine figures that represent the charities of the king. Also, in front of the square, there is the National Theatre Doña María II that was the home of the Inquisition in the 16th century. And right there is the location of one of the train stations in Lisbon, from where trains go towards Sintra. It was built in 1887 and it´s façade is striking. Churches in Prague are part of the most important tourist spots to visit for their incredible architectonic and historical value. The Church of Our Lady Before Týn is one of the most famous in the city because it´s located in the Old Town Square, although not exactly right in front of it. The name “of Týn” means “surrounded” in Czech and after knowing this we can understand this church a little bit more because it´s in the middle of various buildings. It was built at the end of the 10th century in an inside patio and that´s why you can´t see the complete façade of the church from the great square in the city. But its towers can be observed, rising tall and beautiful in the sky. The gothic style predominates in the construction that finished in the 16th century. The two main towers are 80 metres tall, are of a beautiful gothic style and they´re surprisingly asymmetric. The church was in the hands of various religious groups and it was remodeled and rebuilt various times because it also caught fire. In the last few decades they´ve strived to maintain the outside façade and the whole inside of the church. Thousands of people visit it every day.
