If you like going to places that are really unique you can´t not visit Botín that, according to the Guinness Book of Records, it´s actually the first restaurant in the whole world, founded in 1725.
The place was mentioned in the book Fortunata and Jacinta by Benito Pérez Galdós, published between the years 1886 and 1887 and, allegedly, Goya worked in the place before he became a painter, and also Hemingway was a frequent customer or he said that this place was one of his favourite restaurants.
Today the restaurant, without doubt, has been converted into a touristic place because it appears en the most important guides in the world but this should not bother you because the locals still go to this place to enjoy some of the best meals.
Botín was founded by a Frenchman called Jean Botin and his wife and it was originally called Casa Botín but later on it changed its name to the one that it currently holds.
It is a place full of wooden planks with iron bits which are hundreds of years old and it has some of the most delicious dishes in the whole city.
