Palace of Ajuda

This palace in Lisbon is famous around the world because it suffered attacks during the Napoleonic invasion and for that it was never finished. But still, its architecture is magnificent and it represents today Romanesque style to perfection. Thousands of architects come to the city just to see this great work.

 

The Palace of Ajuda, inside, is totally equipped and doesn´t miss anything. Its decoration is also characteristic of the Romanesque style with tapestries, marble statues, frescos of oil or acrylic paintings and furniture of a unique quality from the “golden” period of Portugal, when they found diamonds in Brazil and hey exploited that market.

 

The Viceroy of Egypt also collaborated in the construction and the roof the Winter Garden was a gift that he made to the Portuguese Crown. But there´s something which is more impressive, what all the tourists like the most: the Room of the Throne, the biggest and widest in the palace and also the most luxurious. Its enormous crystal chandeliers, the chairs lined up in silk and its exclusive paintings leave the visitors astounded and with an open mouth out of admiration.
