The Gallerie dell´Accademia of the city of Venice finds itself today in the Scuola Grande de Santa Maria della Carità, which is a very old secular brotherhood, if not the oldest. The designer and constructor of this work together with the church that carries the same name and a monastery was Andrea Palladio, a great Italian artist.
The good thing about this gallery is that the building is also part of a tourist attractive and the visitors appreciate both the works that are exhibited as the construction and the architect.
It all started in 1750 when it was decided to create a fine arts school in the city to capacitate painters and sculptors. And all the works of its students were exhibited in a room that was called Gallerie dell´Accademia (Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice).
But subsequently, with the Napoleonic occupation, these art collections had to be transported to its current location and from there, us the tourists, can admire such works.
Some of the names of the artists of the Academy are Tintoretto, Gentile Bellini and Lorenzo Lotto among others.
