Europe offers endless possibilities. At Easter, any of the destinations we talk about below can be thoroughly enjoyed. Experience the cultural heritage of Sweden, the majestic buildings of Denmark, the Blue Danube of Budapest.
Stockholm: If you are looking to get away for a few days, I recommend visiting Stockholm and its medieval core. Of the 14 islands that make up this northern town, Gamla Stan is the most authentic and oldest, and probably the most beautiful. They are all part of what makes up the city of Stockholm. The best views of the city are undoubtedly found by taking the elevator of the famous Gondolen, which stands 35 meters high. From there, you can see Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea, which practically laps the impressive Royal Palace and City Hall. And if you are fans of Nordic crime fiction, Stockholm is where you need to be to see the places of the Millenium trilogy in person. It’s where Stieg Larsson lived and left his mark. More and more people want to experience what Lisbeth (the protagonist of the saga) felt for this magical city of northern Europe.

Copenhagen: The Danish capital is another alternative destination for you to consider going around Easter. I recommend walking along the city’s streets full of colorful houses and along the blue canals. Don’t miss checking out the Nihavn Canal, where you’ll find restaurants and pubs with terraces. And don’t forget to visit the neighborhood of Christiana, the city without law, where the lines between legality and illegality are blurred and where tolerance is now a lifestyle. It´s a hippie neighborhood that has nothing to do with the rest of the city. The police don’t go there even though marijuana and hashish is sold there. Nobody says anything, nothing sees anything, no one judges anyone. It is very pleasant to stroll along the streets and talk to the inhabitants. But of course, one shouldn’t expect to find a mini-Amsterdam in Copenhagen.

Budapest: To talk about Budapest is to talk about the Danube, and to talk of the Danube is to talk about Budapest. Without the river, the city doesn’t make sense because it is also the dividing line of two semi-cities: Buda and Pest. Buda is more stately and Pest is more authentic. Both are essential and equally important for Hungarian society. Therefore, I would suggest taking a cruise on one of the ships that run from side to side to give you an idea of the city and its many bridges. The Chain Bridge is undoubtedly the most famous; it forms part of the skyline of the Pearl of the Danube, as Budapest is also known. It is probably one of the most beautiful cities I´ve ever seen, and the Parliament building is a work of art. If you have time I recommend visit it, but be sure to reserve a spot in advance over the internet to avoid standing in line. The spas in Budapest are quite simply a lifestyle. Hungarians are water people, and although they don’t have a sea, they have their spas, where they spend their leisure and free time.
