Altes Museum, known as the Old Museum, is a work of art within itself because the building, designed by the German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, is a really imposing neoclassic construction.
Its construction finished in 1828 and it´s located in the Museuminsel which is the Museum Island in the city of Berlin, where the most important museums in the city are and it possesses one of the most interesting state collection of antiques in the city.
The building, considered one of the most important in the whole of Germany, is a perfect example of Classicism and it was designed from 1822 to 1823 but it was inaugurated in 1830. It is 87 metres long and 57 wide and the exhibitions that are inside are grouped in two different inside patios, and it´s close to other important museums like the Neues Museum or the Pergamonmuseum.
The Altes Museum is one of the most important in the city and the whole of Germany and, for that reason, it´s unthinkable not to go there.
