Until the 4th of December of 2011, Rome will hold the show Ben Hur Live, a fascinating adventure for the whole family which will take us to the stage of one of the most legendary stories of our time. The show is based on the novel by Lewis Wallace, ´Ben Hur´. A tale of the Christ´ (1880) and in the films which derived from it.
The show has already been seen by over 140,000 people since its premiere in 2009, and it´s already been in London, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Zürich, before its arrival in Rome.
The work has been described by its own German produced Franz Abraham as a show which combines the strength of a rock concert, the energy of a Broadway musical, the quality of a theatre play and the magic of the great Hollywood classics. Taking Rome´s Nuova Fiera as stage, Ben Hur Live will make us live a 360 degrees adventure and will make us feel like spectators from the Roman circus.
During the representation, we won´t stop being thrilled by a great story of love, passion and vengeance. The display is really impressive. Ben Hur Live has the participation of over 400 actors and 100 animals, among which we find eagles, falcons and horses. Songs, dancing, stunts and impressive musical compositions by Stewart Copeland, the ex-drummer from The Police and a music producer with great experience at the time of composing soundtracks. Shaun McKenna is added to the creative team, the responsable of the elaborated script, as well as the director Philip McKinley and a team of design and lighting made up by the ones in charge of creating stagings of great importance, such as the ones for U2, the Rolling Stones or the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The show will strike us at all times with different fights, the appearance of great structures such as gallows, impressive special effects and, of course, the thrilling chariot race which has become one of the most famous scenes in film history. In Rome, the person in charge of narrating Ben Hur Live will be the Italian actor Luca Ward.
There´s no better place to hold the show Ben Hur Live than the capital of the empire which the fictitious Jewish prince Judah Ben-Hur fought against. Visiting Rome is like falling into a dream which you don´t want to wake up from, and in autumn we can make the most of less visitors in the city if we compare it with other times of the year.
