At the shores of the Danube river, there´s the Fisherman´s Bastion and it´s one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the city of Budapest.
Of Neo-Romanesque style, it has a beautiful view from where you can appreciate all of Pest and it´s plain. You can also see from this magnificent monument, the city Parliament and thousands of boats that navigate down the famous river.
It´s made out of stone and was built between 1899 and 1905, and it´s called like this in honour of the fishermen that in the Middle Ages took care of the area from possible attacks.
Inside the Fisherman´s Bastion there´s the Church of Saint Mathias, a palace and a castle and a characteristic bronze sculpture of Stephen I of Hungary, who was the first king of the country.
