The González Martí National Ceramic and Sumptuary Arts Museum was created in 1947 because the State received the collection that Manuel González Martí possessed and this act was what impulsed the Government to open the museum.
The place finds itself in the Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas and despite being founded in 1947, it didn´t open its doors until 1954. Afterwards, in 1969, with a larger amount of funds, it was able to extend its collection and it acquired more furniture, costumes, paintings and different works that were exhibited until today together with the ceramic.
One of the most striking things and that the visitors are attracted to the most is the façade of the building, which is made from alabaster stone.
On the other hand, from the objects that can be enjoyed, a collection of medieval Christian ceramics stand out, the furniture from Dresden, ancient ceramics where you can see Greek, Iberian and Roman figures and Valencian tiles from Medieval times also are worthy of being mentioned.
The National Ceramic Museum is without doubt one of the the most important of its kind around the world and, to put it one way, slightly alternative. You can rent apartments in Valencia and enjoy the place and its other works.
