La Pedrera

Casa Milà, popularly known as “La Pedrera”, is a building built by Gaudí between 1906 and 1910, in a main avenue in the city of Barcelona. The Milà family ordered to the architect the construction of this building that, since 1984, is considered part of the World Heritage by UNESCO.

The façade is of stone and it has a wavy shape and it represents the continuous movement of the sea, the same as the interior decoration of the building, where one can find cut columns, sculptures and big stairways that reminisce about marine life with a futuristic and fantastic syle.

La Pedrera is an immense building that has rooms of 1323 sq metres that surround the two big circular gardens that are also decorated with coloured ceramics and melted irons. On the windows, for example, you can see different vegetable shapes which were made with forged iron.

Gaudí revolutionized 20th century architecture and it can be seen in each and every one of his works, which are currently museums or national monuments. In Casa Milà, cultural activities take place and there are guided tours where you can visit the mansion and a few of its patios.

To visit this magnificent work by the great architect Gaudí, rent apartments in Barcelona and go out and explore and enjoy the city and it´s floral culture.
