The city of Barcelona is a beautiful place on the Mediterranean coast that´s popular with tourism all year long. Barcelona has many emblematic monuments that are frequently visited by tourists during the whole year. Normally, when we think of them, we miss out on a very important one: the monument to Christopher Columbus.
This monument is at the bottom of the Ramblas and it´s an almost 200ft-tall tower that shows the discoverer of America pointing towards the sea. This tower was built in 1888 as part of the Universal Exhibition that took place in the city that year and has been an emblematic monument ever since. We can see, on the monument, pretty statues of lions and characters related to Columbus´ life and his discoveries.
