Museum of San Marco

The building that houses the Museo di San Marco, that opened its doors to the public in 1869, is one of the oldest of the Dominican Order and, for that reason, before inaugurating as a museum it had to be restored and enlarged, project that was performed by the architect Michelozzo. The building was finished in 1443 and it was the most important building of the time, where the most fervent religious people congregated.

The museum offers its visitors a perfectly preserved example of how the convents were during the 15th century. The complex possesses works from one of the most important Dominican monks, called Angelico, who collaborated closely with Michelozzo and his pupils at the time of enlarging the place.

One of the most important treasures that the museum holds is a great manuscript collection that are located in the great library of the place and, finally, it also has an underground area where you can observe a large quantity of well-preserved precious objects from the 19th century.

You can rent apartments in Florence and enjoy one of the most important museums in the city, that holds some really invaluable relics.
