The Naval Museum of Madrid presents, in chronological order, the most important and relevant pieces of Spanish Naval history, from the period of the Catholic monarchs in 1474 up until now.
At the place we can observe and enjoy ancient nautical instruments, artillery pieces, maps, ship models and different paintings of historical naval scenes.
One of the most important ship models that there is in the Naval Museum is that “Nuestra Señora de la Concepción y de las Ánimas” which had no less than three floors and that the Spanish naval fleet created in 1688. The ship and its construction are very well documented throughout different manuscripts which were used by the architects of the time.
Another of the more interesting ones is the Real Carlos, also with three floors and which was built in 1766.
There´s a gallery dedicated especially with the intention to present the most important achievements of Spain right back to the time of discovery.
Undoubtedly if you´re interested in history, visiting this museum is a must because it goes through it from 1474 until today. For that though you should first get Madrid accommodation.
