Palais de Tokyo Paris

Located in the 16th Arrondissement in Paris, the Palais de Tokyo invites one to get to know contemporary art and the current trends of today. Inaugurated for the International Art and Technology Exhibition in 1937, it´s one of the places in the city which invites one to see the evolution of art in the last few decades of the 20th century and the 21st century.

Despite its original name being the Palais des Musées d´Art Moderne, later, in 1999, the culture minister Catherine Trautmann decided to open the west wing of the Palais and it derived in its actual name because that´s the street where it´s located.

Among the collections that it holds on the 20th and 21st century, there are sculptures, paintings, exhibitions, design, photography and multimedia, which can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday. There are guided tours to get to know the history of the museum and of the exhibited works. The entry tariffs are varied and go from 1 euro for students and artists to 6 euros for people who are not studying and are under 60.

In the neighbouring areas of the Palais we find the river Seine and all types of restaurants and places to have a break, a coffee, to read or chat.

The Palais de Tokyo is a great input for culture and art so, if you´d thought about renting apartments in Paris to enjoy a few days in its atmosphere, visit it.
