I have to start this article by congratulating Sonar for its 20th anniversary. This is one of the most popular music festivals in Spain, as well as the one with the best parties you can ever imagine. To celebrate this anniversary the organizers brought together many of the main protagonists of the previous editions of the festival as: Kraftwerk, Richie Hawtin, Pet Shop Boys and Laurent Garnier. All of these famous artist will perform at Sonar 2013 in Barcelona, because they all have one thing in common: their infinite love for electronica.

During three days: the 13th, 14th and 15th of June you’ll feel how the Music decibels rise in Barcelona. Are you ready? The masters of electronic music return to perform in Spain: Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Paul Kalkbrenner, the Dewaele brothers with their band Soulwax, Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark (with their hip hop) and Skrillex who will show us why they are the most virtuosos turntables musicians. In addition to the above, some creative artists couples will perform in a two-bands show: The Bradien, Comelade Pascal, etc. Sonar will display the performances of the most important techno artists. We do not forget the shows of Angel Molina (which is a constant performer in the festival), as well as Arcanoid, Cesar de Melero and Zero.
Hip-hop and electronica have managed to fit perfectly to each other. Remember this name: Jurassic 5, led by Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark, which certainly are geniuses in this field.
This year, Sonar Festival will also give you the option to enjoy all concerts, national mostly, during the day. Artist like Za, Bruna, Wooky & Videocratz, La Bien Querida or C. Tangana, are a reference to the rap in this country. Completing the list of national artists: Nacho Marco (with his acclaimed house), Satore (smart house), Tutu (pop-house) and the duo We Like Turtles (pure freshness).
On the 20th anniversary of Live Sonar you’ll have the chance to see the performance of Barcelona Laptop Orchestra, who will present their review of classic electro. They have basically changed their violins and cellos for laptops.
How to get there?
Sonar during the Day: Held in the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona. Montealegre Street 5, very close to Plaza Cataunya. You can get there by bus lines 7, 9, 14, 16, 17, 24, 41, 50, 54, 55, 56, 58, 59, 63, 64, 66, 67, 68, 91, 120, 141, L94, L95 or Aerobus. Another option is by Metro lines L1, L2 or L3. You can also take the FGC train lines 6, 7, S1, S2, S5 and S55 or the RENFE R1, R3, R4 and R7.
Sonar during the Night: The party will take place at Fira Gran Via L´Hospitalet. Botánica Avenue, 62. You can get there by catching the buses that the organizers have scheduled from 20.30 hrs to 8.00 hrs. They depart from Drassanes Square and will get you directly to the festival’s venue. By taking FGC train you’ll arrive directly to Plaça de Catalunya onboard the lines: L8, S33, S4 and R6, as well as if you catch the conventional buses lines: 9, 37, 65, 72, 79, 109, L72, L80, L83, L87, N1, N15, N16 and N17. You’ll also have the option of going by taxi too; here are are some phone numbers: Radio Taxi (93 303 30 33 or 93 225 00 00) Radio Taxi Baix Llobregat (93 630 30 30 or 93 640 22 22) and Taxi Groc (933 58 11 11). They are very useful when around queues are formed around the taxi station near the festival.
