Strahov Picture Gallery Prague

Prague is the gem of Eastern Europe. In this city on the shores of the Vltava river we can find some of the most beautiful monuments in Europe, such as the Astronomical Clock, as well as lovely streets with an architecture that will leave us with our mouths open. Art also has an important role in this city, where we can find various art galleries of all sorts.

One of the most unique art galleries in Prague is the Strahov Picture Gallery, which is located in the Strahov Monastery.

This monastery, in the 18th century, already had an important art collection, with paintings by artists such as Dürer, but in 1950 the monastery was demolished by order of the communist government and its works of art were spread around Prague. Anyhow, in 1992 the monastery was rebuilt and the works of art came back. Today, we can see over 1500 of them. These works of art date from the 14th century up to the 19th, from gothic to romanticism, as well as baroque and rococo.

The art gallery has two floors, one dedicated to temporary exhibitions and the other one to the permanent one. The opening times are from Mon-Fri from 12pm until 4pm and on weekends from 9am until 12pm and from 12.30pm until 5pm. Entry prices are 80CZK for adults, 40CZK reduced and 150CZK for a family ticket.

This spring, treat yourself to a weekend in apartments in Prague and visit the Strahov Monastery and its art gallery, a historical tour in a historical site in the city of Kafka.
