The Horta Labyrinth Park is home to the oldest gardens in Barcelona, it displays the neoclassical style of the 18th century and it is built on several levels, the maze being located in the lower part of the park.
It covers nearly 18 acres and has a very long history, being directly linked to the extravagance of the times of the Spanish Monarchy in Catalunya.
Close to the labyrinth is the temple of Ariadne, home to a life-sized marble sculpture of the figure. A charming canal with swans, ducks and a beautiful bridge can be found on the section of the parc that covers the Romantic garden.
The park hosts a great variety of plants, trees, ponds and natural-looking waterfalls which makes it seem like it is a natural forest landscape and not an artificial royal garden.
The Horta Labyrinth Park is not that well known despite its amazing beauty. It is considered to be the one of the most stunning parks in the city and we strongly recommend you to try and unravel the labyrinth of the park and walk among its beautiful hedges, gardens and fountains, seeking to get to the heart of the maze where you will find the statue of Eros, the Greek god of Love. The maze re-enacts the mythology of the labyrinth perfectly, each turn you make and each shortcut will open up a whole new perspective.
