When we visit the beautiful city of Barcelona, we don´t just have to stay in the city to see tourist sites. It´s recommendable that we go outside the city as well, where there are many tourist and cultural attractions that we can visit.
One of those places is the Abbey of Montserrat, located in the homonymous mountains, unique in the world for having a round-shape peak. In the abbey we can find the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, and a unique statue because it´s of dark skin. As well as visiting the monastery of the 16th century, we can see the park of Montserrat and all of its different paths with splendid views of the valley. Also, there we can find different local food markets so we can have a bite to eat after so much walking.
Coming down from Montserrat we can head to the fishing town of Sitges. There we can find some of the best seafood restaurants in Spain and a lot of activity in the town. Many famous national and international events take place in Sitges, such as the Carnival and the Film Festival. Also, its beaches and its church complete a wonderful landscape to spend a warm spring afternoon.
