The Bode Museum, which used to be known as the Kaiser Friedrich Museum, opened its doors in 1904 and, at first instant, housed some very important pictorial collections from the Christian era although, as the years went by, this was changed and it acquired all types of collections.
The Bode Museum is on Museum Island in Berlin where you can also find other important museums and cultural spots in the city.
The first renovations after the war (1948) were only done in parts, because some parts were not accessible and the step by step renovation stretched along until 1987. After the unification many flaws were noticed and it was decided to be renovated once more. It wasn’t until 2006 until it opened again in its full glory and since then it turned into one of the most important museums in Berlin.
At the place one can enjoy the Sculpture Collection, the Numismaatic Cabinet and the Bizantine Collection. One of the reasons as to why the Bode is visited so much is because it has one of the world´s biggest collections of sculptures and, on the other hand, numismatic objects (over half a million).
Without doubt, the Bode Museum is one of the most visited in the German city and visiting it is a must. You can rent apartments in Berlin
