The Cemetery of Père-Lachaise is one of the most famous around the world and, today, is a great point of tourist attraction in the city of Paris.

Inaugurated in 1804, it´s one of the the biggest intramural cemeteries in the world. It´s located in the Arrondissement 20, a bit far from the city centre. It suffered various remodelations and expansions, the last one in 1850. That way, the necropolis contains 70 thousand graves in 93 hectares and more than 5 thousand trees.
Millions of people visit it each year and take photos with the graves and monuments of their idols of the 19th and 20th century. The Parisians see the place as more of a park and many times they come there to read and relax on a sunny day.
