The building was reformed on various occasions but always to maintain its splendor that it had in its first moment and maintaining the original design and, for that reason, there are galleries that are sometimes closed to the public because they´re being restored and, also, because it´s still a private place that belongs to the family of Doria Pamphilj of Rome.
The museum is situated on the first floor of the beautiful and imposing Doria Pamphilj building that, in its oldest part, dates from 1435. You go in from the Via del Corso where you can also admire a convent of the 6th century. In 1601 another patio was added to the building and two covered wings. Subsequently, in the 18th century, Valvassori drew the façade that can be observed today and which is considered a work of art.
The Doria Pamphilj Gallery is a place with more than 400 works of art that can be enjoyed walking through its galleries. You can rent apartments in Rome and visit this interesting museum.
