Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

From March 2 to 5, Barcelona will once again become the capital of the latest generation of technology. Expositions, conferences, lectures, workshops and exhibitions will shape one of the most important events at the international level as far as innovation 2.0 is concerned. While it is true that by now it’s practically impossible to get a more or less affordable pass, the schedule of activities planned for this edition make it well worth the effort. The type of pass you have will determine which of the events and activities you will be able to attend. It is essential to carry a notepad and pen so you can take note of all the newest developments, as can be expected from the fast growing industry in the 21st century. And of course, you’ll want to have your business cards close at hand: networking is really the star of the party at events like this where the opportunity you are looking for can appear when least expected. Barcelona spruces itself up for the occasion and you’ll likely see some unexpected activities around the city throughout the week, especially glamorous parties organized by major mobile phone brands. One thing you can count on: forget trying to hail a taxi outside the Mobile Congress area (the Fira Gran Via or the Fira Montjuic) during this time, because the taxi services can’t keep up with the demand generated at the entrance and exit to the Congress. Some of the highlights for this year include:   Innovation in Mobile: What’s New and Next for Marketing and Media presented by IAB in collaboration with Facebook and Nasdaq....

Spring in Barcelona

Knowing the best time to travel to a city can be the deciding factor between a successful trip and a complete disaster. One has to take into account not only the weather but also the influx of tourists, activities, etc. That´s why I’m going to tell you today about the best time of year to visit Barcelona. I bet if you ask any Barcelona native, everyone will tell you the same thing: spring. Why? Keep reading. There are several reasons why Barcelona shines in spring. Here’s a list: Warm but not hot Visiting a sunny city with temperatures above 30° C and walking everywhere can be an ordeal. Barcelona has many outdoor places to visit, but the sun can take away any desire to go on to the spot. In the spring, temperatures in Barcelona are mild, near 20 ° C, and the sun isn’t at its peak so it’s much more comfortable. Walking in the Parc Güell or along the Passeig de Gràcia at 30° C is much different than at a moderate 20° C. Of course, there might be an odd shower but nothing you cannot solve by stopping in at a cafe to wait it out with a good mel i mató or churros with hot chocolate. Less tourists Barcelona is one of the most important tourist centers of Europe, which means there’s an influx of people coming from all over to see this beautiful city. This can get uncomfortable—queues, crowds in the center and higher housing prices make summers in Barcelona more complicated for those with little patience. There are tourists in the spring as...
