Palazzo Grassi is one of the most important and relevant, if not present, of the history of Venice. The place is a palace with a classical construction that is located in the Grand Canal, the most important canal in the city.
The project for the fabrication of this building was designated to Giorgio Massari and the construction, that began in 1748, concluded 24 years later. The interesting thing about the palace is that, being surrounded by baroque or bizantine constructions, stands out notably because it´s one of the few that has a classical style.
Between 1984 and 1990, the place became a museum managed by Pontus Hultén and, as well, it had an open air theatre with 600 seats but, since 2006, it was acquired by the French entrepreneur François Pinault, who currently exhibits in its place his private art collection.
A curious fact is that the place was used as a space so that the famous Hollywood actress Salma Hayek and the son of Pinault could get married.
You can visit this beautiful construction and enjoy a very interesting private collection but, before, you should rent apartments in Venice
