The restaurant and fado house ´Adega Machado´ is one with the most experience in Lisbon, founded in 1937 by the veteran artists Armando and María Lourdes Machado.
The place where the restaurant is located is in a neighbourhood as traditional and typical as the fado, the Barrio Alto, an area where local shops and apartments in Lisbon mix, which receive thousands of tourists every year.
In Adega Machado, as well as tourists, poets, bullfighters, artists and local actors gather every night as they have been doing for the past decades. It´s also common to be surprised with the presence of international artists that are passing through Lisbon and that don´t miss out on the chance to get to know the popular restaurant.
As well as Fado, in this house they also represent other traditional Portuguese rhythms and, at the end of the night, they do an amusing march, like the ones that take place around the neighbourhoods in Lisbon during the festivities of the popular saints, inviting everyone around to join in.
They serve regional food cuisine and have a group menu with 12 possible combinations from which to choose from, as well as menu ´a la carte´ if you so wish.
