Richard Morris Hunt Memorial

Richard Morris Hunt was the father of American architecture and, for that, has his own monument on Fifth Avenue in the city of New York.

The memorial monument to Richard Morris Hunt finds itself in Central Park and it´s visited every day by thousands of people that go there for a walk in the open air. He was the creator of the Metropolitan Art Museum and many other institutions. He founded the American Institute of Architects, of which he was the president of.

The sculptor of the monument was Daniel Chester French, who designed as well as the monument itself, the building that surrounds it: a semicircular porch with columns and other sculptures that accompany it. These two secondary sculptures are women and they represent the “Painting” and the “Sculpture” because Hunt wasn´t just an architect but an admirer of all arts.

There´s an inscription on the pedestal where the statue of the great American archyitect lies that says the date of birth and death of the artist and, they recognize his work and collaboration in the arts of the city through the Art Society of New York.

If you rented apartments in New york don´t miss out visiting this spectacular monument in Central Park.
