Tower Bridge

The city of London is divided by the river Thames, which is famous around the world for its beauty and for the beauty that it gives the city. The Tower Bridge is a bridge that crosses this river, but it´s famous not for that but because it´s a drawbridge and very picturesque on the eye.

 

This bridge is located very close to the Tower of London and that´s why it has a similar name. “the bridge of the Tower”. It shouldn´t be mistaken for the “London Bridge” because that´s another one that also crosses the Thames but it´s further down the river.

 

During the 19th century when the commerce in London grew, the necessity to build another bridge incremented, but it couldn´t be fix because it would interrupt the passing of the ships that then used to arrive to city´s port. That´s why they created a drawbridge, that after many years of investigation and decisions, it was built by the architect Horace Jones in 1884.
