It´s one of those productions that only happen once in a lifetime, that combines the music of the great king of pop and his choreography with the creativity of the Cirque du Soleil, to offer fans around the world a unique view of the spirit of Michael Jackson. More than 60 participants intervene, from dancers and musicians to acrobats. Inside their European tour they will perform in Cologne on the 15th and 16th of December at the Lanxess Arena.
The show with which the Cirque du Soleil wants to impress us with this time is dedicated to someone who because he greatly contributed to music, inspired so much love among his fans and had such an abrupt ending, is a legend. Few have achieved as much as Michael Jackson.
A combination of fantasy (that Jackson loved so much) with a fascinating fusion of music, dance and audiovisuals will transport the crowd to the creative world of Michael Jackson, making their bodies feel like they´re facing the legacy of the King of Pop
World Tour is though both for fans of Jackson and for those who are just discovering his creativity, attempting to capture the essence, soul and inspiration of the star of this show.
They show us the different sides to him that he loved, the creativity based in his own sources of inspiration, his love for music and dance, the fairytales and the magic and the fragile beauty of nature. Recreating unforgettable performances, they emphasize on the global message that he always wanted to transmit: love, peace and unity. All details have been carefully checked, up to the very last one, so that this is a work of art from an art, music and fashion perspective.
During the show we will listen to over 30 songs of his. To show the spirit of Michael in the most truthful way possible, the musical director Greg Phillinganes has chosen some of the musicians that collaborated with Jackson throughout his career. His voice is what drives the show forward, whether it´s his voice or his melodies.
We will remember those memorable scenes that are printed in our minds, such as the mummies dancing in Thriller or the dancers from the 5 continents dancing in Black and White, among many others.
For many, there are three outstanding moments in Jackson´s life performances that have remained in the minds of those who witnessed them for the rest of time: his three tours. This tour, is based on all of them.
The 1987 BADWORLD TOUR, with 123 concerts in 15 countries and 4.4 million attendants.
Even though he swore he wouldn´t go back on tour, he released DANGEROUS WORLD TOUR in 1992, showing that he could still achieve more success. From that time, we got the firework displays and the magic. Michael also began using doubles in his shows.
His third and last tour once again broke all the records. Released in 1996, HISTORY WORLD TOUR went through 58 cities in 35 countries over all 5 continents, performing 82 concerts for 4.5 million fans.
And now, the Cirque du Soleil wants the legend to continue and Michael Jackson´s legacy is more alive than ever. That´s why it has joined forces to create Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL WORLD TOUR, a tour that´s taking the Cirque du Soleil around the 5 continents, just as Michael would have liked.
