Hiking in Norway: The Best Way to Discover This Northern Landscape
Travelling to Norway in June is an exceptional plan. Not only does the warm weather reaches up north as well, enabling you to visit all of the wonderful places that are covered with snow during other times in the year, but you can also experience how the sun almost never goes down at this latitude as we approach the summer solstice. The days last 19 hours, and everything is endowed with unique energy and the sky is filled with light of stunning hues. Oslo is the perfect starting point to explore the pristine landscapes of the north, which are revealed in all their glory after the long winter. Within a few hours you can depart the beautiful and modern capital, and arrive by train to some very authentic Norwegian towns, where there are a variety of fascinating hiking trails. We suggest joining an organized group, since you’ll be traversing in isolated places where it can still get quite cold at night. In addition, you’ll need to transport heavy equipment (tent, winter-weight sleeping bag, food, etc.) But don’t worry, if you prefer more independent travel, there are original hikes organized by small but very competent expedition companies. One of these is Road Junky, an alternative online travel guide that has been dedicated to organizing retreats not tourist destinations since 2011. This year, they launched a new project: the Road Junky Walk, a one-week walking tour across central Norway, from the mountains to the fjords, that takes place June 14-21. This is an original route discovered by the same guide who will accompany the group, an expert in survival techniques. To... read moreInternet in the Streets of Paris
If you got plenty of money to spare and don’t mind paying exorbitant roaming charges while traveling, this article may not be of interest to you. But if you´re like the vast majority of travelers whose need for Wi-Fi is almost as important as that for food, this article is a must-read. It is not always possible to disconnect completely from your daily life while on vacation, there are e-mails to check or write, or you want to find interesting places to visit or use social media to tell the world what a good time you’re having. In any case, if you travel to Paris you’ll no longer need to search around like crazy to find a place with Wi-Fi in order to get online. The city has installed 11 booths to call, use the Internet to send and receive e-mails, or simply find information about places of interest such as which restaurants are highly recommended or where to find one of those off-the-beaten-track bars we’ve recommended you visit. The use of the booth is limited to 10 minutes and best of all, it´s completely free! It is certainly easier to find places with Wi-Fi than it used to be, but you generally have to go into a venue and at least buy a drink to use it. These booths are located right on the street, so you can take advantage of them and save the battery of your smartphone for later, when you really need it. If you need more than 10 minutes, the machine gives you the option to pay for more time using your credit card.... read moreThe 2014 Bread & Butter in Berlin
In English, the expression “bread and butter” means something very simple, something to which one is accustomed to do. And the tradeshow Bread & Butter is anticipating big things in Berlin this year, where it will celebrate its 10th edition. As an exhibition of urban and contemporary fashion, Bread & Butter brings the best brands from around the world, and the brands are the stars of this event. More than 600 exhibitors from the worlds of fashion, fashion denim, sports, street fashion, workwear and smart casual fashions will exhibit their works for three days, from July 8 – 10. Once again, the venue will be the former Tempelhof Airport, which is now abandoned and used as a park, the setting for big concerts and as an exhibition hall that hosts major international events like B & B. Bread & Butter was founded in 2001 and is celebrated twice a year, in January and August. It started in Cologne with great success but moved to the German capital, Berlin, in 2003. As a representation of our ever-changing world, the show was held in Barcelona in 2005, and then was alternated between the two cities until July 2007 when it stayed in Barcelona. In January 2009, Bread & Butter returned to Berlin, where it has remained to date. In these thirteen years of existence, the brands that have populated the stands of the fair present new and different proposals each time, so you won’t feel like you’ve seen it before. As the organizers say, Bread & Butter “realizes the concept of an innovative trade fair event for contemporary clothing culture.” Here you’ll find the latest... read moreRANKINGS
