Strawberry One-Act Festival

The theatre festival Strawberry One-Act has arrived in New York, a festival that´s been active since 1996. Now it´s presenting its 15th edition by the hand of its creator and artistic director, Dirk Van Fisher, who will stage the festival at The Theater at St. Clement´s, in NYC. This ´American Idol´ of theatre, a comparison made in its day by the New York Daily, constitutes one of the most important theatre events, because among the public and the theatre jury, they emit live votes to choose the best play of the season. This way, in this theatre festival that takes place twice a year, they show hundreds of theatre plays from all over the United States, which are submitted to a strict competition to challenge each other for a spot in the festival; only 40 of these plays will have the chance to compete. The format that the festival follows is a competition in itself, where the aim of all the plays is to go through from the 1st round to the semifinals and the final. Once they´ve found out who is the playwright of the winning play, he or she will receive the tasty prize of a $1500 grant and the chance to have and participate in a long-duration play to be staged at the Riant Theater. Other additional prizes that one can win at the Strawberry Festival One-Act are Best Play, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. Fashionable Gay Discos and Clubs in Rome

The gay community in Rome had a late start due to the influence of the Catholic Church, meaning that specialized entertainment spaces have only recently appeared. But there are now a number of entertaining gay discos and clubs with a trend-setting style. According to historical research, homosexuality in the Roman Empire was considered natural. It was part of the power relations among members of wealthy families and also accepted by the lower classes. Despite its history, this city is the most backward in Europe in regard to recognizing the rights of the gay community. One example of this is that the city’s first Gay Pride march was held only in 2000. In 2007, the city opened its first gay street, which is called San Giovanni in Laterano but commonly known as Gay Street. This street is located steps from the Coliseum and there are several specialized and gay friendly establishments. One of the clubs with a longer history is L´Alibi, which has spent 40 years dedicated to the gay nightlife in Rome and offers the best sensory experience for those who are open to experimentation. It has an interesting ambience with an African style and a romantic terrace in the summer that offers great views of the Monte dei Cocci. Girlie Circuit in Barcelona

The Girlie Circuit is a great festival dedicated to the lesbian community in Barcelona and around the world. With a variety of dj´s and events, this festival has proved a success, increasingly and internationally attracting the interest of the lez public . This great LGBT feast begins on August 7 with the exciting Water Park Day and Water Park Night starting at10 am. The rhythm and dancing in the water will be in the famous Illa Fantasia located in Vilassar de Mar. On Wednesday 8 of August, the Lezzgo! party awaits at Razzmatazz, a night of indie and exciting electro music. In addition, the band La Quiero Viva will perfom. On Thursday 9 you will have the night of Cabaret Party at the famous Berlin Cabaret in Barcelona. The famous singer Linda Sedio will be performing live and music will be provided by D´Light and Nuria Cuki Scarp.
