History of contemporary fashion in Paris

Paris is without doubt the European fashion capital and home to some of the legendary fashion brands, where the most interesting trends are generated. Along these lines, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris opened “Les années 1990 & 2000. Contemporary fashion history”, an exhibition that includes some of the most important trends of recent fashion history. Starting from the 90´s, which marked a turning point and time of maturity in the fashion market, the exhibition presents the most radical and avant-garde fashion couture proposals, which changed the hitherto existing aesthetic parameters. Among them, there are the incredible designs by Azzedine Alaia and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons, which undoubtedly belong to the realm of conceptual fashion, with its legendary collections like “The hunchbacked” Spring / Summer 1997 by Kawakubo . Nor can Jean Paul Gaultier and Yamamoto Yohi and the minimalism of Jil Sander and Helmut Lang miss this event, who opted for a sober and elegant simplicity. On the opposite side we find the frantic British designers like John Galliano, who began designing for Dior, and the enfant terrible of fashion Alexander McQueen, whose legacy is further proof of his incredible talent. What is acupuncture and why does it work?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest medicinal practices of the world and represents, in turn, one of the great mysteries. Because although until today a (western) scientific explanation of how it works has not been found, the truth is that, whether you believe it or not, it really works. As we said before, acupuncture is an ancient medical practice from China, and today is part of the healing techniques repertoire in many western alternative medicine clinics. It is based on the principle of energy channels, called meridians, which flow -in case of sickness- has been broken. And what acupuncturists try is to basically re-establish the harmonious flow of energy between these meridians. By inserting needles at certain points, the acupuncturist can induce the body to send healing energy to those places that are in disharmony. In short, the needles stimulate the energy flow and relieve obstructions in it. From a western point of view, these meridians correspond to the nervous system which, through pressure or inserting needles, could release neurotransmitters and hormones that relieve pain and help regulate body functions. A study published in the journal Nature Neuroscience points to the same theory. And apparently the insertion of needles emits a chemical substance called adenosine, a natural analgesic to reduce physical pain. Emerging talent in the Strozzina, Florence

On February 19 the CCC Strozzina in Florence welcomes a select group of young artists during the award of the “Emerging Talents”. Chosen to participate by a committee of 4 Italian commissioners of high reputation such as Luca Massimo, the Director of MACRO in Rome, Chiara Bertola, director of HangarBicocca in Milan, nominees artists will present their work in the halls of CCC Strozzina. Perfect opportunity to catch up in contemporary art in Italy. On February 18, the name of the winning artist will be announced in what will be, at the same time, the opening of this fantastic exhibition. No better chance to present some of the young talents, competing for the prestigious award Giorgio Andreotta Calo: The first exhibition of the artist, held just a year ago, was ambitious and inspiring.
