Vermouth is more than a drink in Catalonia. It’s an agreeable custom related to good food and a taste for relaxed conversation between friends. Vermouth means wormwood, which is herbal base of this drink, in addition to other tonic substances that make it pleasant and perfumed and the wine that makes it ideal for cocktails. Red vermouth contains more than forty herbal extracts, among which are flowers, roots and fruit. It is said that its formula is so secret that only four people know it and the actual recipe is stored in a bank safe in Geneva. To make it, the herbs are mixed in a container that is stirred twice a day for two weeks, then sugar and wine are added. Then it is left so that the flavors develop. The quality of the vermouth depends on the wine that is used. The best from abroad are in Italy, but the ones from Catalonia are equally good. It makes a wonderful aperitif for anyone who has a problem with weight, since they contain herbs that produce the sensation of satiety which can decrease appetite. “Going out for a glass of vermouth” was a Catalan custom which was widespread on Sunday at noon after mass ended. The Rialto Theatre of Madrid will host the hit comedy “Dinner for Schmucks ”. From the 4th of July till the 5th of August, you will be able to attend this show, which is undoubtedly one of the most interesting comic performances of the year. Ninety minutes in which you won’t be able to stop laughing. Francis Veber, who also was responsible for his film version, wrote the original French work. The critics were agreed in giving the ” Dinner for Schmucks ” the award of successful show. Proof of this is that it started to be performed in other venues around the world and the film industry of the United States decided to shoot it again in 2010 to bring it to the big screen. In Spain, the version has been renewed under the legendary production of Josema Yuste. As he confessed in one of his interviews, Yuste was captivated by Veber film from the moment he saw it. Finally, after several months of preparation, he could be surrounded by a large group of actors and comic artist, accompanying him on this new adventure. The three actors who star in the Spanish version are: Josema Yuste, Agustín Jiménez, “Felisuco” and Juan Solo. They have extensive experience in the entertainment world and, particularly, in humor pieces. “Dinner for Schmucks ” tells the story of a group of friends who meet every Tuesday for dinner together.
